In March 2024, the Government published the Defence Nuclear Enterprise Command Paper, which stated that AWE has commenced work on a sovereign replacement nuclear warhead.

At this event, hosted by the Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Chilterns Regional Defence and Security Cluster, AWE will describe how they will deliver the replacement warhead for the UK’s Continuous at Sea Deterrent.

AWE is determined to access the best national capabilities in precision engineering, test and evaluation, microelectronics, the building and equipping of state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities – and more.

Sharing the platform with colleagues from the Ministry of Defence, industry, and research organisations, AWE will discuss some of their current partnerships, ranging from complex laser physics to conventional manufacturing, and how the UKs replacement warhead programme, Astraea, will create many more business opportunities for the region and the nation.
