The day will involve exploring the current landscape in STEM education, highlighting the importance of lighting the spark in education through outreach and the impact this can have. The session will then look at how to do this most effectively, with practical strategies and transferable skills to make any communications to students effective, engaging and impactful. Finally, participants will plan and put some of these strategies into practice, receiving meaningful and targeted feedback from the expert educators.

Aims of training:

  • Describe some factors influencing the shortages in the STEM employee pipeline.
  • Understand and apply a wide range of practical strategies to promote effective communication with students and other stakeholders.
  • Practice using these strategies in presentations and activities for schools.
