Harwell is located in beautiful countryside just south of Oxford, one of the fastest growing cities in the UK. Oxford city centre is just over 20 minutes, drive away, Heathrow is 55 minutes by road, and nearby Didcot Parkway station connects you to London Paddington in just 42 minutes.

Didcot Parkway rail station is only five miles away, with direct services to Central London (Paddington) in under 45 minutes and Oxford City Centre in under 15 minutes.  Frequent bus services, taxi’s and bike hire are available for onward travel to the campus.

Taxi services to and from Didcot Parkway and the wider local area include:

London Heathrow is less than one hour by road or train. Birmingham, Southampton, Luton and Gatwick are all accessible by public transport.

Oxfordshire has a great cycling community, so why not get involved.

We have bikes available from Didcot Parkway railway station, head to the bike hub outside the station and look for the Harwell Campus bikes and e-bikes. Cycle Route 544 connects Harwell, Didcot and Wantage.

Our bike hire scheme is available to all Harwellians via the Donkey Republic app. Register with your company email address, use your phone to unlock a bike and enjoy 48 hours of free riding time. You can find the map of bike locations here.

There are a few public car parks around the campus, with spaces available at the Thomson car park and the Ridgeway car park.

For electric car owners there are electric charge points located at RAL Reception (R75).
